Jeffrey Nils Gardner

Audio Producer/Director/Artist

Jeffrey Nils Gardner is a director and sound artist whose creative practice involves immersive narrative worlds, queer identities, contrapuntal voices, and small moments between fictional and real people. They are an Executive Producer with HartLife NFP and co-founder of Audacious Machine Creative.

They work occasionally as an adjunct professor for Northwestern University’s Department of Radio, Television and Film, and were formerly employed as an adjunct instructor in the Drama department of Kenyon College, as a Mastering Editor for Rusty Quill Ltd, as a podcast producer for Radiotopia and Vox, and as the Senior Technical Coordinator for the Museum of Science and Industry’s Giant Dome Theater.

Jeffrey’s audio work can be heard in podcasts like Unwell, a Midwestern Gothic Mystery (winner of the 2021 BBC award for best audio fiction podcast), Flash Forward, The Magnus Archives, Phoebe Reads a Mystery, Our Fair City, the Strange Case of the Starship Iris, Stellar Firma, Brimstone Valley Mall, and more.

Jeffrey holds a Bachelors Degree in Drama and Classical Civilizations from Kenyon College and a Masters Degree from the Sound Arts and Industries program at Northwestern University, with a professional certificate in museum studies.

Jeffrey's Chicago stage credits include Sideshow Theatre, New Leaf Theatre, Eclipse theatre, the Steppenwolf Garage, Collaboraction, WildClaw theatre’s Deathscribe festival, and the Chicago Fringe Festival, among others.
